Old Milon

In Old Milon, by Guy De Maupassant, the peasant, Old Milon, was notable for his most recognizable characteristic, cleverness. Old Milon wanted revenge, so he got it in a way he thought was easiest, killing the Prussians who took over his land. He killed them and also took everything they had. He even tied some of the soldiers and put them in the bottom of a pond. It was also clever how he yelled for help by screaming, "Hilfe, hilfe!", to throw off a cavalryman. Old Milon got revenge for seizing his land; He made them pay for every time they took fifty francs worth of stuff from him. He also got revenge for the killing of his father and his son. Therefore, Old Milon got his revenge by making clever moves.
